Community Projects

For decades, Rotary has been something of a “quiet achiever”, working painstakingly behind the scenes to get some of New Zealand’s most iconic charities off the ground.
 
With the support of clubs throughout New Zealand, over the decades, Rotary has helped launch organisations ranging from Plunket, Health Camps and the first Karitane Hospital to Outward Bound, Youth Exchanges and a programme to combat cyber-bullying.
 
Today, we continue to support numerous Community Projects, enriching thousands of Kiwi lives every year.
Healthy Heroes

HEALTHY HEROES

Healthy Heroes is a fun 5-9-week programme for schools where teachers, parents and children, with support from their local Rotary Club, build healthy habits to last a lifetime. The aim is to learn better ways to do the five things that make the biggest difference in people’s lives: eating, exercising, sleeping, thinking, helping others.

A global initiative of past Rotary International President, Kiwi Bill Boyd. An important part of Rotary International’s long-standing focus on improving literacy worldwide, Dictionaries in Schools is a nationwide Rotary project in New Zealand.

PRIDE IN WORKMANSHIP

Participating employers nominate their staff member, providing a short resume of what they do and why they are nominating them. It’s not a competition, so nominees are all automatically accepted by the club, and presented with certificates at a special award ceremony.
